Gisagara Volleyball Club have appointed assistant coach Joseph Ndahiro as their new head coach. Club Secretary-General Edmond Gatera confirmed his appointment, replacing Lawrence Yakan Guma who left the club to continue his studies in Japan. “It’s true that Ndahiro is taking over the team as head coach after his predecessor, Yakan, left to study in Japan,” Gatera said. Ndahiro previously served as Gisagara VC head coach in 2021 before being handed the assistant coach role for the past three years following the arrival of Yakan Guma. With a wealth of experience as a player and a coach, Ndahiro brings a deep understanding of the game to the new position. His playing career included stints with Petit Séminaire Virgo Fidelis de Butare, Groupe Scolaire Officiel de Butare and Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC). He also coached Groupe Scolaire Officiel de Butare in 2016. ALSO READ: Valentine Munezero: From humble beginnings to a volleyball star Gisagara VC has had a challenging season so far. They finished the first phase of the national volleyball league in fifth place after winning only three out seven matches played. Reflecting on the performance, Gatera admitted that it has not been a good first phase but promised a strong comeback in the second phase which commences on January 17. “We failed to meet our expectations in the first phase, but it’s time to rebuild our legacy as champions of the league. Actions speak louder than words, and we are committed to improving,” he said.
