RAYON Sport’s interim coach Baptiste Kayiranga has begged fans not to give up on the club after its latest demise in the MTN Peace Cup. The Blues’ trophy impotence raced into a fourth straight year after Sunday’s elimination from this year’s MTN Peace Cup. Counting on a second leg resurgence after a 1-2 defeat in the first leg, Atraco shattered the six-time winners’ hopes after a humiliating 3-0 return leg defeat which pushed the Kagame Cup champions in the final on the back of a compelling 5-1 aggregate win in the two-legged semi-final. For most parts of the return leg which was played at Amahoro stadium, Rayon looked rugged and played catch up against a firing and confident Atraco side that is within touching distance of a treble. Kayiranga however feels that the team can work their way back to the top next season if the club administration and fans back them up. “Rayon Sport is a big club with big players. It is true the fans are frustrated about the trophy drought but the players need all the support they can get now more than ever,” he said.“What needs to be done now is to review the team’s run this season and see where we can improve.” Rayon will wind up their league campaign with a tie against old rivals Kiyovu at Nyamirambo’s regional stadium on Thursday.Kayiranga only took over as Rayon coach in May after Raoul Shungu was sacked.
