Rwanda, Egypt to set up joint commission

Foreign Affairs minister Rosemary Museminali has announced that Rwanda and Egypt will soon sign a protocol that will set up the Rwanda - Egypt Joint Permanent Commission. The minister said this while officiating at celebrations to mark 57th anniversary of the 1952 Egyptian Revolution. According to Museminali, the commission will put in place a framework under which economic cooperation between the two countries will be undertaken. “The two countries will be launching before the end of this year, a Joint Permanent Commission that will establish a new strong cooperation in several areas of trade, agriculture and water management,” said Museminali. Recently, UTEXIRWA a textiles and garment industry received some developmental assistance from Egypt. Museminali hailed the existing bi-lateral relations with the North African nation. “As Egypt celebrates the national day, our two countries enjoy excellent relations for a long time at regional, bilateral and multilateral levels through organizations such as NEPAD, COMESA and the Nile Basin Initiative,” Museminali said. She added that Rwanda will continue to work closely with Egypt to develop human resource skills in technical areas. “The Egyptian revolution is a bright turning point for the history of Egypt and a revolution that was driven by the quest for the country’s pride, dignity, independence and sovereignty,” said Ahmed Ramy, Egyptian Ambassador to Rwanda. The Ambassador added that his country’s revolution inspired several other revolutions and national liberations in the four corners of the globe. He hailed Rwanda’s achievements especially in restoring political stability, economic growth and the process of reconciliation and national unity. Ends
