Medical labs to be vetted The world’s leading health organisations are soon to launch the first ever accreditation process for medical laboratories in Africa. The launch is scheduled for 27, July this year at Serena Hotel- Rwanda. Government and health officials from 12 African countries are expected to attend. Nyarugenge on social security NYARUGENGE- Employers in Nyarugenge district still require strict follow up to ensure they observe social security fund compliance. According to an official, out of 3164 employers in the district, there is a compliance of only 2000 are remitting their employees’ social security to the pension body. Meanwhile, Jean Claude Ndangamira, Kigali City provincial coordinator with Social Security Fund of Rwanda, said that payment errors have reduced as a result of the sensitisations. Dutch donate computers Netherlands recently donated 20 computers and projectors to King David secondary school. This is one of a series of donations that have facilitated the gradual academic growth of the school. Annet Batamuriza the Director and founder of King David disclosed that during the three year partnership with Dutch, children are being sponsored, school library was furnished and they also provided sports equipment. S. Leone MPs on gender tour A group of women legislators from Sierra Leone have arrived to learn from the country’s gender progress. Chamber of Deputies SG Anicet Habarurema said, “Their tour is on how to promote or mainstream gender equity as they know that Rwanda ranks very high in this.” The group is led by Abel Nathaniel Stronge, Speaker of the Sierra Leone Parliament. They are scheduled to meet with Fatuma Ndangiza, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Unity and Reconciliation, PROFEMME Twese Hamwe, UNDP Country officials, and UNIFEM 5m Euro for capacity building The Belgian government has earmarked 5m Euros for capacity building in public institutions in the country. Human Resources and Institutional Capacity Development Agency [HIDA] and Multi Sector Capacity Building Project [MSCBP] and other beneficiaries will sign a memorandum of understanding for cooperation on receiving the funding. This will be during a ceremony scheduled on 27 July to take place at the conference room in Ministry of Public Service and Labour. Already, Rwf800m has been used to facilitate capacity building in some public institutions. AMIR to meet members Association of Micro finance Institutions in Rwanda [AMIR] will hold a meeting with its members to discuss their operations across the country.
