Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has confirmed it is conducting an investigation on reported malpractices in the management of Rwanda Utility Regulatory Authorities (RURA). Speaking to The New Times, RIB spokesperson Thierry Murangira, said that it’s true there is an ongoing investigation and those closely related to it are the recently sacked senior employees of the public body. These include former Acting Director General, Eng. Deo Muvunyi, former Senior Managing Director in charge of Finance, Pearl Uwera, and former Senior Manager in Charge of Human Resources and Administration Fabian Rwabizi. They were all dismissed on October 10, and according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office, they were dismissed “due to indiscipline and managerial failures.” The New Times has learned that the trio was initially detained but have since been provisionally released by prosecution while investigations continue.
