Media summit in Uganda KAMPALA - The third East African media summit has been slated for Uganda next month. Under the theme, ‘EAC’s ten years of progress, the media as partners in promoting deeper integration’ the summit is expected to attract 230 media owners and practitioners in the region. Leading media experts and owners will make presentations on issues of regional integration, media and trade related issues. There will also be training for practising journalists in celebration of East Africa Community’s 10-year progress. More exhibitors for Expo GIKONDO -The 12th Rwanda International Trade Fair has registered an increased number of both local and international exhibitors compared to last year. The number of local exhibitors has increased from 219 to 300 and the international ones have climbed to 119 from 93. Nasta Munala, an official at the permanent Secretariat of the Expo attributed the increase of exhibitors to mobilisation, advertising and two months marketing.She said that 645 stands have so far been booked. CIMERWA requires more water RUSIZI - CIMERWA, a cement manufacturing monopoly in the country, in its new endeavours to expand cement production will require 1,080 litres of water per day.This was revealed in a document released recently by the cement factory. The factory is presently producing 100, 000 tonnes of cement per annum but has plans to increase this six times. Thugs kill teenage girl REMERA - Unidentified thugs on Wednesday night broke into a residential house in Kabeza, Remera and murdered a nineteen year old girl. The girl only identified as Claudine was strangled to death by a rope. Police is yet to establish the motive of the murder. An unidentified suspect was arrested in connection with the murder to assist in police investigations. The body was later taken to Kanombe hospital for post-mortem. IPAR to celebrate first anniversary KIGALI - Institute of Policy Analysis and Research-Rwanda (IPAR), is set to celebrate its first anniversary ceremony.The ceremonies are scheduled for 31, July this year to mark one year of existence by the independent think tank. IPAR was established to carryout policy analysis through research to enhance informed policy for government policy makers, civil society, private sector and development partners. INILAK to hold first graduation Independent Institute of Lay Adventists of Kigali (INLAK) will hold it is first ever graduation ceremony. The graduation will start early morning on Sunday, 26 July this year at Nyamirambo Regional Stadium and hundreds of students are expected to graduate. Media thrown out Members of the press were yesterday thrown out of a meeting that had brought together members of the judiciary and the office of the ombudsman despite an earlier invitation. The officials had met to discuss the controversial 2008 report of the Ombudsman which triggered bickering between the two institutions after judiciary was ranked second most corrupt institution. The meeting that took place at the justice ministry headquarters was attended by the ombudsman and different heads of judicial organs and police. Ends
