Socialite Kathia Kamali Uwase, a member of the Mackenzie family and older sister to Miss Rwanda 2020 Nishimwe Naomie, ended 2024 on a high note by getting engaged to APR basketball star and national team point guard Adonis Filer just hours before the New Year. Videos shared by friends on various platforms capture the couple beaming with joy, surrounded by loved ones during the special moment. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Adonis Filer’s passion for basketball was sparked early, inspired by his father, a former college player. He honed his skills at Mount Notre Dame Preparatory School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Filer’s collegiate basketball journey included stints with the Clemson Tigers and Florida Atlantic, before he transitioned to a professional career. He played for clubs such as Apollon Limassol in Cyprus and Beroe in Bulgaria’s National Basketball League. In September 2017, Filer officially launched his professional career. By 2020, he proudly represented Rwanda’s national team in the FIBA AfroBasket tournament.
