Nyagatare and Musanze districts have announced fireworks will light up on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, with the latter being its first-ever New Year’s fireworks displays. The event promises to be a memorable experience, with a “spectacular fireworks display to welcome the new year 2025 at exactly midnight”, the official statement reads. ALSO READ: City of Kigali announces New Year's Eve events, fireworks venues In Musanze, the countdown celebrations will take place in the night of December 31, at the GOICO Plaza market building while in Eastern Province residents will celebrate the new year at EPIC Hotel, according to the districts’ announcement. Meanwhile, Kigali remains the epicenter of fireworks displays, with multiple locations set to light up the city’s night sky. Most previous fireworks display welcoming the new year have been held in Kigali. This year, authorities in these districts are breaking the mold, bringing the celebration closer to their communities as well. PHOTOS: Kigali rings in New Year with fireworks show Claudien Nsengimana, the Mayor of Musanze District, told The New Times that the district, alongside its residents, will celebrate the numerous achievements accomplished over the past year. These include the construction of public and income-generating infrastructure, such as modern markets and health centers. “We will be sharing joy. We have achieved a lot. We built modern markets, including the privately owned 'Carrière' market, health posts, and various other infrastructure, Nsengimana said. We're inviting everyone to celebrate with us, and it will also be an opportunity to commit to achieving even more in the future, he added. Stephen Gasana, the Mayor of Nyagatare, highlighted the district's remarkable achievements during this year, mostly the agricultural production. Known as a prominent agricultural hub, Nyagatare expects high crop yields. “We had a good agricultural season. Among the selected crops; maize, beans, and rice, are healthy, and we're expecting huge yields,” Gasana noted. The district also continues to excel in milk production, producing over 88,000 liters of milk daily, a milestone worth celebrating. “Our capacity is growing, and we are proud of this progress,” Gasana added. Nyagatare has also hosted investment forums aimed at attracting investors and fostering economic growth. The City of Kigali has confirmed that the celebrations will take place at Canal Olympia in Rebero, Imbuga City Walk in the city centre, Kigali Convention Centre, and Kigali Serena Hotel. These venues have become synonymous with grand New Year’s celebrations, drawing thousands of revelers annually.
