Rwanda will welcome South Sudan to Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Saturday, December 28, in a CHAN qualifier second round second leg game. The first leg was a 5-goal thriller in Juba as Amavubi lost 3-2. The reverse leg promises to be more exciting as a place in the next stage of the qualifiers is up for grabs. Times Sport takes a look at five players who can decide the tie. Kevin Muhire The skipper of the Amavubi CHAN team was on target in the first fixture in Juba. On any day, Muhire is unplayable in midfield. He has great footwork and can give the final defence-splitting pass for his colleagues to score. His eight assists, so far, in the domestic league for league leaders Rayon Sports is a testament to his abilities. One moment of magic from Muhire can decide the game. The right winger scored the second goal against Amavubi in the first leg as his side went on to win 3-2. It was his second goal in the qualifiers having also netted in the 2-0 win over Kenya. Malish, 20, was promoted to the senior team from the U20 by coach Nicolas Dupuis and is living up to expectation. Malish is fast, has good footwork and an eye for goal. He could be dangerous if given room to operate. Arsene Tuyisenge The APR forward had a good outing against South Sudan in the first leg despite failing to score. He is expected to lead Amavubi’s attack again as they hope to dispatch the Bright Stars on December 28. Despite being a natural winger, Tuyisenge is thriving as a central striker at club level and in the national team. He has good physique and is very strong on the ball. If he is given the balls, he can manoeuvre his way and bang in the goals. Johana Paulino Aimable Nsabimana and Clement Niyigena had a tough time dealing with Paulino with the former scoring an own goal in the first leg. Paulino who scored against Uganda in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, on October 15, can be a tough customer for any defender on any day. He is technically good on the ball, knows how to link up play and is very mobile when he gets the ball. The two Amavubi centre backs may have taken a cue from his exploits in the first leg encounter and must switch on throughout the game. Didier Mugisha He came from the bench to score Amavubi's second goal in Juba and might get a starting berth in the return leg in Kigali, on Saturday. Mugisha is very dangerous when he cuts in from the left. He is powerful and can hit long range efforts. He can also play as a central striker and he gives coach Jimmy Mulisa options upfront.
