Migi warns Mukura

APR‘s influential midfielder Jean Baptista Mugiraneza ‘Migi’ has warned Mukura to expect a more aggressive APR side when the two sides clash in the MTN Peace Cup semi-final second leg scheduled for Saturday in Huye. Migi saved APR’s faces with a late header in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Nyamirambo stadium. Trailing 1-2, the teenager equalised with a stunning header six minutes from stoppage time. APR had opened the scoring through Jabir Mutarambirwa on the 13th minute but Meddie Kagere equalised for Mukura seven minutes later to leave the score 1-1 at half time. After the break, APR fell behind after an own goal from their Burundian right back Karim Nzeyimana. At this point, Mukura seemed headed for a sweet victory until a late header from Migi. Migi told Times Sport yesterday that nothing will stop APR from knocking out Mukura. “The confidence in the dressing room is sky high so there is no reason why we can not qualify for the final. The players know what is expected of them and are ready to execute,” he said before adding, “It is true that Mukura are a hard nut to crack when playing at home but we know what the stakes are and unfortunately for them, we have to beat them in their own backyard.” This year’s winner will pocket Rwf10m while the second, third and fourth teams will bag Rwf 7m, Rwf4m and Rwf2.5m respectively courtesy of tournament sponsors MTN Rwanda. Meanwhile, Mugiraneza, who suffered a knock in his right knee during the Mukura game is likely to miss tomorrow’s mid-week league clash against Electrogaz. With two games to wrap up this year’s league campaign, APR are two points adrift of reigning champions and league leaders Atraco (47 points) and know that anything short of six points from their two fixtures will all but crash their hopes of lifting their tenth title.
