897 under-graduates complete Ingando

Eight hundred ninety seven secondary school awaiting admission into public universities have completed a three-week civic education training (Ingando) at the Peace and Leadership Centre-Nkumba in Burera district. 203 the graduates were females.During the pass out that was presided over by the Minister of Culture and Sports, Joseph Habineza, another 950 students were officially received. In his speech Habineza highlighted the importance of the youth in the development of the country. “The most important resource that we have is young people because they are in position to find solutions to create lasting peace and development”. He challenged the youth to have self confidence and promote patriotism. “This course is a way of informing and refreshing minds of students on current issues in development of their country, in order to change their mind sets to help them planning for the future”. Through their representative the students, highlighted, their commitments, pledging to fight Genocide and its ideology and promote unity. Speaking during the function, Fatuma Ndangiza, the Executive Secretary of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission asked the students to use the knowledge acquired in building a Genocide ideology-free society. This year’s programme is expected to attract over 8,000 government-sponsored students. Ends
