A one-week Karate coaches’ clinic has been lined up for coaches in and around Kigali. The clinic will be conducted by the renowned Japanese grand master Masao Kawasoe who jets in the country this Sunday. Sensei Kawasoe, who holds eight black belts, will be conducting the clinics at Lycée de Kigali and will also dish out belts to outstanding participants at the end of the clinic. The president of the national karate federation Theogne Uwayo believes that Kawasoe’s arrival is timely and will spur the sport to greater heights. “He has vast experience in the sport and there is no doubt that he will pass on a lot of knowledge to the local coaches,”Uwayo said. Kawasoe’s visit to Kigali has been funded by the Ministry of Sports and Culture. On top of being the technical director in the international traditional karate federation, the 64-year-old also doubles as the chief instructor for UK and Ireland. Ends
