Rwanda parliamentary volleyball team hammered Kenya 3-0 on Sunday, December 15, to emerge the champions of the EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa, Kenya. The Rwandan side mastered the sweltering heat of the coastal town to dominate the game. Rwanda were the better side from the onset and used their height to spike hard against the Kenyans who had no answer to their attacks. Their efforts, however, turned futile as Rwanda proved to be well-coordinated in the very competitive game, winning all the three sets. They claimed the first set 25-23, and the second 25-21, leaving no doubt about their intent. They then dominated the third set, finishing with a commanding 25-19 scoreline. Our rivals (Rwanda) were very prepared and really well coordinated. We tried our best,” he said. It was a sweet revenge for Rwanda whose ladies side had lost 3-0 to Kenya the previous day. The 14th edition of the East Africa Community Inter-Parliamentary Games were hosted in Mombasa, Kenya, from December 7-15, attracting eight countries from across the region. The games, which draw legislators from the East Africa Community member countries including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and South Sudan. They competed for honours in eight disciplines including tug of war, football, golf, athletics, netball, volleyball, basketball and darts.
