New software stalls King Faisal

GASABO-A multitude of people yesterday waited desperately at King Faisal Hospital (KFH) in Kacyiru for long hours as health services were availed at a snail’s pace. Officials explained that this was as a result of the hospital’s shift from the Clinpro technology system to new Jeeva state-of-the-art technology system, a faster and better system that is being installed at the facility. Patients were seen complaining in hushed voices about the hospital management’s measure of introducing this development at crucial hours when most people visit the health premises. “This is Rwanda’s main referral hospital. Why would they choose to install this technology during morning hours when most of us are visiting this place?” one visitor questioned. The Executive Chairman of hospital, Dr. Innocent Nyaruhirira however attested that the new system will ease the mechanism of operation at the hospital as it is more accurate and will make it faster to capture more of the patients’ data. “A transition from one system to another obviously causes some trouble and for this reason we apologized to the public through different notices. It takes time to transfer the data but this problem will be history after about five days,” Nyaruhirira assured. In relation to staff preparedness about the changes in the operation system, the health expert also noted that some staff members are well trained about this development however, many are still not very efficient. Nyaruhirira also stressed the fact that the new system will quickly allow all departments of the hospital to access patients’ data unlike as it was before with the old system that has been in place for over 10 years. Another official at the hospital also attested that this is one of the best systems that can be used to manage medical information citing Tanzania as one of the countries that use it in the health sector.
