BY BONNIE MUGABE The Primus National Football League has been revised and according to the new arrangement, it is scheduled to climax on August 28. The new development was confirmed by Ferwafa Chief Executive Officer on Sunday who revealed to Times Sport that the football body has agreed to climax the league this month to ensure an early preparation of the next season. Jules Kalisa said, “We set August 28 as the last day of the Primus league such that the national team can embark on their preparations for the Nations’ Cup qualifier against Liberia next month.” “We also want to get ample time to look for new sponsors before the next league returns. This will also help local clubs to reorganise and fully prepare their teams ahead of the next season,” he added. Kalisa further disclosed that the federation is also planning to start the next league in late November. The early climax of the league will help both the Amavubi and U-18 national teams to prepare for their respective championships. The Amavubi Stars’ team host Liberia in the Nations’ Cup qualifier due to be played in Kigali on September 7. The U-18 team will head to Germany on September 11 for a two-week training mission in preparations for the 2009 CAN U-20 youth tournament, which will be held in Kigali, Rwanda.
