The incumbent Rwanda Basketball Federation (Ferwaba) president Desire Mugwiza has declared his intention to run for a fourth consecutive term in the federation’s office ahead of the elections scheduled for December 21. Mugwiza will run unopposed as no other aspirant expressed interest in challenging him to the top position. Mugwiza was elected FERWABA president in 2013, succeeding Eric Kalisa Salongo who resigned at the time citing personal reasons. Meanwhile, two more positions at the federation will be up for grabs, including that of first vice president where incumbent Pascale Mugwaneza is set to run a third term. Mugwaneza represents the Hoops basketball team. Eduard Munyangaju of Patriots BBC will also contest for the second vice president role which has been vacant since Richard Nyirishema was appointed Minister of Sports in August.
