Rwandair has said that it is now flying three times a day between Kigali and Entebbe, using either its Bombardier Dash 8 or CRJ200 regional jet, which has reduced flying time to just over 30 minutes. Rwanda’s national carrier also said on its website that effective July 16, 2009, a 7:00 am flight between Kigali and Nairobi will be introduced, but only on heavy traffic days. Rwandair has also embarked on a re-branding exercise of its new brand name RwandAir. “We have dropped Express from the name of the carrier and the airline tag line which has been ‘From the Heart of Africa’ also changes to ‘Fly our Dream to the Heart of Africa’,” a statement by the company reads. The company said the move is in line with the current national campaign to invite the rest of the world to fly to Rwanda and be part of its economic development dream. The airline that was once a target for privatisation said it intends to make several changes its product and service line. “To our online visitors and customers, we are getting a totally new website from August 2009, our customers from all over the world will be able to book and pay for their tickets online whether by credit cards or other convenient payment platforms,” the statement said.
