The Rwandan football governing body (FERWAFA) is waiting for Frank Spittler’s response on their proposed offer to extend his deal as Amavubi head coach. Rwanda will play South Sudan in the first leg of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers on December 22 but it remains unclear whether Spittler will travel with the team to Juba for the crunch first leg tie as his current one-year deal nears expiration. Ferwafa Secretary-General Adolphe Kalisa confirmed to Times Sport that a new contract was offered to German coach but he has not informed the federation of his view on the proposed offer. “We have given the head coach an offer and we are waiting for his response,” Kalisa said. ALSO READ: CHAN qualifiers: South Sudan names squad for Amavubi clash It is reported that Spittler rejected the offer and is expected to fly to Germany for Christmas and end of year holidays before Amavubi’s clash with South Sudan. Assistant coaches Jimmy Mulisa and Yves Rwasamanzi are likely to be in charge of the two matches. In November, he told the press that he was not impressed by the way his employers (Ferwafa and the Ministry of Sports) are handling the situation. They were giving me a proposal but it was not really a proposal so I didn’t really care about that. That’s the situation,” her said. The coach further claimed that, “it should be from their side to show me if they really want me to stay and, with their proposal, they didn’t say something like that to me.” Amavubi, who qualified for the next round after eliminating Djibouti, will enter training camp on December 15 a week before the first leg match in Juba.
