WDA receives trainers boost

70 Rwandan instructors have jetted back into the country to boost the Workforce Development Authority (WDA) taskforce. The instructors are part of 100 Rwandans dispatched to Singapore and Philippines to acquire critical skills and exposure in various professions. The group has received training in their specific professional fields such as Aquaculture; automobile; construction equipment; culinary art; electrical installation; ICT - web design; ICT-networking; Food and Beverages; plumbing and welding. In a statement the WDA Pedagogy Team Leader Johnson Rutayisire noted that the instructors’ return coincided with the arrival of further training materials. “We are happy that the instructors are returning at a time when we are also expecting to receive some of the consignments of training equipment,” Rutayisire said He added: “We are also at advanced stages of rehabilitation at a number of our training centres we intend to begin with. With both equipment and infrastructure in place, training should commence soon.” The instructors are scheduled to spearhead WDA new Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme aimed at equipping Rwandans with practical skills. The Government has injected over $ 900,000 for this capacity building programme. Eighty of these instructors will be recruited in WDA, while 20 others will be attached to private companies. WDA’s mandate is to empower Rwandans with practical hands-on skills through an integrated Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system. Ends
