Japan commits Rwf95m to Anglican Church for Education

The Japanese embassy has given Anglican Church - Kibungo Diocese $89,383 (approximately Rwf95, 399,727 million) for the construction of a new nursery and primary school which will benefit about 400 children in and around the Kibungo Sector, Ngoma District. The grant agreement was signed on Tuesday, November 1, under the Grant Assistance to Grassroots Human Security Projects ((GGP/Kusanone) at the embassy offices. Speaking at the signing, the Japanese Ambassador to Rwanda, Masahiro IMAI, explained the importance of basic education and development targets on the quality of education by the Embassy of Japan. He also appreciated the contribution of the Anglican Church of Rwanda-Kibungo Diocese and wished more and more students would have the appropriate school environment in the future. In addition, he disclosed that Japan will continue its efforts to support and work with the people at the grassroots level in collaboration with the Government of Rwanda as well as NGOs in Rwanda. The Diocese is expected to use between six to eight months in constructing the nursery and primary school called 'Gahima Anglican Academy' which will be located in the Ngoma district. Commenting on the development, Emmanuel Ntazinda, the legal representative and Bishop of the Anglican Church of Rwanda Kibungo Diocese commend Japan for its support toward education adding that it will help the community a lot. Ntazinda pointed out that education is among their pillars, and as of now the diocese has 45 schools as well is assured to use the grant perfectly as it was designed to boost the education area. “Education is the for the success, as well as key for the transformation and development and social wellbeing,” he said
