The teacher’s day which has been postponed twice is to take place on November 2 at BK Arena where more than 6,000 teachers will be gathered for the celebration. The day which is set to be celebrated this week is dedicated to teachers celebrating their efforts and contribution to education. The celebration will bring together teachers from 30 districts of the country and government officials who have not been disclosed. Usually, Teacher’s Day is celebrated on October 5 worldwide. This year, it was observed under the theme “The transformation of education begins with teachers.” The day is celebrated annually to honour and appreciate teachers for their contribution to education. Meanwhile, Governments around the world have been called to step up support for teachers, warning that the profession is struggling to retain its workforce and attract new talent. The call, issued by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), came ahead of International Teachers Day worldwide. Worldwide, 69 million teachers are needed to reach universal basic education by 2030. The largest deficit is in sub-Saharan Africa.
