Kenyan Premier league side Police FC has hired Rwandan coach Djabil Mutarambirwa as their new assistant coach on a one-year deal. Mutarambirwa joined the club’s coaching staff and he will work closely with Burundian Etienne Ndayiragije who was unveiled club new head coach on December 1. The two reunite at Kenya Police FC having previously shared the touchline at Bugesera FC. “I am happy to be in Kenya and to work with Ndayiragije again and I think we can do much better together and move the club to another level,” Mutarambirwa said. The Kenyan law enforcers have endured a worst start to the season which has seen them rooted at the bottom of the 18-team league table with eight points from eight matches but Mutarambirwa believes they can turn the results around. “We can still turn things around and compete for the title, the league is a marathon and we still have more matches to play,” he said. “It will be great to achieve good things here but what is really driving me (to perform) is the hunger to turn around the team’s fortunes, I am prepared and ready to help the team start winning matches,” he added. Mutarambirwa previously served as assistant coach at Rwanda’s Police FC, Kiyovu Sports, AS Kigali and Bugesera FC. He is also an assistant coach for Rwanda U20 team. He also played for APR, Atraco, Kiyovu Sports, and Police. At club level, he won it all on domestic scene and in the region, having clinched two league titles and the 2007 Cecafa Kagame Cup with APR.
