The list of 39 police personnel including commissioners, senior officers and junior officers of Rwanda National Police (RNP) who were granted retirement was released in a new Presidential Order published in the Official Gazette on December 4. The officers include Commissioner General (CG) Emmanuel Gasana, a former Inspector General of Police, who also served as Governor of Southern Province, and Eastern Province. Others are Commissioner of Police (CP) Emmanuel Butera, CP Vianney Nshimiyimana, CP Bruce Munyambo, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Damas Gatare, and ACP Privat Gakwaya. Butera served as the Commandant of the Counterterrorism Training Centre Mayange in Bugesera District. His distinguished career also included roles such as Commissioner for Operations and Public Order, Chief of Operations for the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), and Regional Police Commandant of the Central Region. For Munyambo, he served as the Commissioner of Community Policing, and Commissioner for Operations and Public Order at RNP, and Head of the Police Component of the UNMISS and contingent commander of Rwanda Formed Police Unit under United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti. Nshimiyimana served as the Head of the Small Arms and International Cooperation Department in the Ministry of Interior. He also served as the Commissioner for Cooperation and Protocol, Commissioner for General Services, and Commandant of Police Training School Gishari, among other roles. For Gatare, he held the position of Director of Operations and Programs at the Regional Centre on Small Arms in the Great Lakes Region, Horn of Africa, and neighbouring States (RECSA) in Nairobi, Kenya. He also assumed various roles at RNP, including the Commissioner of Community Policing, Commissioner of Public Relations, Media, and Spokesperson. As for Gakwaya, he served as the Deputy Commandant in charge of academic studies at the National Police College Musanze. His career also featured positions such headed police’s ICT Department in RNP. ALSO READ: Rwanda National Police retires over 150 officers Also on the list are two officers with the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), namely SSP Muvunyi Kayinamura, and SSP Ntacyo Burahinda; and three at the Superintendent of Police (SP) level, namely SP Fidele Kayitana, SP Ruboneza Nkorerimana, and SP Samuel Nkundibiza. The list also features 25 officers with the rank of Chief Inspector of Police (CIP). These are CP Jean-Claude Kaburabuza, CIP Jacques Munana, CIP Modeste Ntibaziyaremye, CIP Eraste Niyibizi, CIP Florien Uwambajimana, CIP Joseph Nzabihimana, CIP Faustin Hagenimana, CIP Vedaste Ruzigana, CIP Jean-Claude Semigabo, CIP Gahigi Harerimana, CIP Rukundo Mucyo and CIP Rafiki Ahorukomeye. There is also CIP Leopold Musonera, CIP Fidele Ngabo, CIP Innocent Hajabashi, CIP Alphonse Nshimiyimana, CIP Jerome Sebahire, CIP Viateur Hategekimana, CIP Samson Maniriho, CIP Ernest Hategeka, CIP Innocent Nshimiyimana, CIP Immaculée Mukamusonera, CIP Felicien Twagirayezu, CIP Emmanuel Uwingabire, and CIP Alexandre Hategekimana. Finally, the list has three with Inspector of Police (IP) rank, namely IP Kaberuka Mpumuro, IP Marie-Claire Nisingizwe, and IP Joséphine Kayitesi.
