EASTERN PROVINCE BUGESERA — Police in Bugesera has arrested another district official over a tendering scam in which Rwf110 m meant to construct classrooms was lost. Faustin Mugabo, the district director of finance was arrested on Wednesday; three days after the District Advisory Council conducted an emergence meeting, in which three officials were suspended pending more investigations into the alleged scam. He is the third person to be arrested in connection with the saga. First to be arrested were the District Executive Secretary and Theophile Rwampogoza the owner of the company which won the building tender. “We are going to have another meeting on Saturday, July 11 there after we will be in position to have more details to tell the public. It is however true that the director of finance has been arrested, Claver Kabera, the chairman of the District Advisory Council told The New Times. According to reliable sources on ground, the decision was taken after the area governor; Ephraim Kabaija held an extra ordinary meeting, to intensify scrutiny in the tender scam. Ends
