Kigali, Rwanda, December 2, 2024 -- Crystal Ventures Foundation (CVF), the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Crystal Ventures Limited (CVL), participated in a tree-planting event during the November 30 Umuganda, as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement. The event, organized in partnership with the City of Kigali and Isaro Econext—a leading environmental conservation organization—brought together notable attendees, including State Minister in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Olivier Kabera, City Mayor, Samuel Dusengiyumva and his guest mayors from Germany, Deputy Director General of REMA, Faustin Munyazikwiye, local government and legislative leaders, CVL employees, and members of the community. This tree-planting initiative is part of CVF's broader strategy to support sustainable development in Rwanda. By planting trees, CVF contributes to restoring degraded ecosystems, mitigating climate change, and enhancing the livelihoods of local communities. “I am particularly excited about the innovative approach we are adopting today, which integrates technology into our tree-planting efforts,” said Fred Bugingo, Council Chair of CVF. “Trees are the lungs of our planet, providing us with the very air we breathe. They play a crucial role in mitigating climate change, preventing soil erosion, and preserving biodiversity.” The event saw the planting of 3,000 trees in the Nyandungu wetland. CVF employees worked alongside leaders and community members to plant the trees, which will be maintained by Isaro Econext using innovative technology to ensure their long-term survival. Isaro Econext, a social interactive platform, encourages individuals and organizations to take measurable climate actions and promote green innovations. It provides personalized guidance on reducing carbon footprints, offers a marketplace for ecological products, and facilitates eco-friendly events and campaigns. Through this partnership, CVF can monitor the health of each planted tree and track its carbon footprint reduction efforts. This initiative is one of many that exemplify CVF's commitment to positively impacting the communities it serves. In addition to environmental efforts, the foundation supports education, promotes health, and provides access to clean water.
