Jean-Damascène Bukuru, the father of Rwandan musician Davis, has heaped praise on renowned director Bernard Bagenzi for pushing his son throughout his music journey over the past decade. Davis D celebrated his 10-year music anniversary during the Shineboy Fest held Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village on Friday, November 29. A host of established local artistes joined the ‘Micro’ hit maker for his music fete with south African rapper Nasty C being the main headliner. The ‘Biryogo’ singer spent close to an hour on the stage performing a number of tracks that he produced over course of a decade. The majority of his songs were directed by Bernard Bagenzi who is one of the best video directors that Rwanda has produced. His job, however, was more than just directing Davis D’s music but also helping him grow musically and financially, something that saw the singer’s father acknowledged during the concert. “This medal serves to appreciate Bernard for everything he did to help Davis D over the past 10 years. I thank you in front of the fans and keep that connection until you get old,” Bukuru told Bagenzi during the concert before giving him a medal of appreciation during the concert. Davis D echoed his father’s message of appreciation to Bagenzi and could only say “thank you so much for your support” towards the celebrated director.
