Editor, By July 4th 1994 , Rwandans had by now known the kind of rot which for a long has been kept behind political scenes. The true colours of what actually began as a 1959’s “revolution” would culminate into a full scale deliberate mission of exterminating the very sons and daughters of Rwanda. What some patriotic Rwandans had for a longtime worked for, the freedom and independence of their motherland had come, with all the costs and potential benefits. While Rwanda ’s freedom from cronies of self-seekers was necessary, the worst option of the rogue leaders to succumb to punishing the lives of millions of innocent Rwandans in form of genocide was and remains unacceptable. As we commemorate the Liberation Day, we often remember the courage of bravely and conviction, spirit of unity and resilience and above all the love of the country and hope for its prosperity. These are not words of mere articulation but words that best explain acts that underlie efforts of Rwandans to stop Genocide, liberate Rwandans from the political claws of rogue leaders and their supporters, and efforts that are giving it back its fame and frame to channel its efforts for prosperity destiny. As we remember this day, we ought to be reminded that patriotic Rwandans were struggling and working not for their selves but for the future Rwanda . As today, we are working and consolidating so far gained for the future generations. Indeed one lesson that should enrich our ever aspirations is that support and sacrifices were core ingredients of a successful struggle that has liberated Rwanda . Rwanda, again a reminder, was built on helm of high moral values and sacrifice of self to the greater good of many. This is a candle, the candle that has kept burning within the hearts and heads of Rwandan patriots who successfully led a struggle that has liberated this country, a country of historical importance in the region. As we honor this day, we can not afford any single day to let the burning candle of courage and love of our country exhaust. It is a candle that has been burning for centuries, a candle that is fuelled by will and spirit of its sons to make it ever shine and progress, for the better good of its future Sons.
