Nyarugenge Intermediate Court has dismissed an appeal filed by the prosecution challenging a lower court’s decision to grant bail to Pastor Jean-Bosco Harerimana of Zeraphat Holy Church, and his wife Jeanne Mukansengiyumva. Delivering its verdict on November 21, the court upheld the earlier ruling, allowing the couple to remain on bail pending trial in substance. The couple face charges of fraud, blackmail, and distributing pornographic material through digital platforms. The appeal hearing, on November 18, was conducted in camera, similar to the initial bail hearing. They had secured bail after offering their home, valued at approximately Rwf60 million, as collateral. If convicted of fraud, Harerimana and Mukansengiyumva face prison sentences ranging from two to three years and fines between Rwf3 million and Rwf5 million.
