Renowned Rwandan gospel artiste Israel Mbonyi will December 31 join Tanzanian star Christina Shusho in Nairobi, Kenya, for the much-anticipated cross over concert. The two singers, regarded among the best of East Africa, made the announcements via their respective social media pages, exciting Kenyan fans who are eagerly looking forward to seeing their performance in Nairobi. ALSO READ: Israel Mbonyi lights up Brussels “Hello Kenya, 31st December#Crossover,” Mbonyi wrote on X, while Shusho, on the other hand, greeted Kenyans and confirmed that she would also perform in the country on the same day. Many Kenyans welcomed the development with pomp, saying they are looking forward to witnessing the two singers on the same stage while others said they would be torn between attending the concert or one by Jamaican dancehall singer Sheensea which will also take place on the same day, same city. Mbonyi’s Kenya performance will follow his annual Christmas show in Kigali scheduled to take place at BK Arena. The 32-year-old musician is among a few Rwandan artistes who had a successful year full of big concerts around the world. It was also a year during which he produced timeless hits that dominated East African charts and earned him big shows around the region. It will be his second performance in Kenya, following his maiden Nairobi concert at Ulinzi Sports Complex on August 10, which attracted big crowds that included politicians, religious leaders and celebrities. Mbonyi’s decision to sing in other languages, especially Kiswahili, has expanded his ministry’s reach to other East African countries including Kenya. He is arguably one of the best Rwandan artistes of his generation. His work has been recognised in the gospel music industry, following his nominations in the African Entertainment Awards USA besides winning various prizes at the Groove Awards Rwanda. His music recently received nominations from African Entertainment Awards USA and recognition from the Groove Awards Rwanda and Isango Na Muzika Awards.
