Renowned gospel ministry Hoziana Gospel Choir will be making its comeback to the big stage when they headline the when annual Tugumane Worship Experience returns to the stage at ADEPR Nyarugenge from December 22-24. The second edition of the concert aims to continue the tradition of praise, worship, and spreading the gospel, inspired by the verse in Acts 3:19. Hosiana, one of the oldest choirs in the Rwanda gospel industry, traces its roots to ADEPR Gasave back in 1968, where it began with Pastor Jacques Kayihura’s family and a small group of individuals. Initially called Kigali’s Choir, Hosiana served the first church established in Kigali. As the church expanded from ADEPR Gasave in Gasabo District to ADEPR Nyarugenge, the choir grew and split into two to minister at both locations. In 1982, the choir adopted the name Hosiana and it is after the choir name that they upcoming concert was titled. This was revealed by choir president and coach Lea Mukandangizi while addressing the media in a press briefing on Monday, November 18. Beyond their musical ministry, the Hosiana Choir has been a vital partner to the government, supporting various initiatives, including helping students complete their education and assisting genocide survivors both within and outside the choir. According to Mukandangizi, their outreach extends to mission trips in rural areas, where they collaborate with local leaders to identify those in need and provide meaningful assistance to improve their lives. Addressing the challenges and occasional conflicts among different denominations, Hosiana Choir sees no reason to avoid collaborations with singers and choirs from other groups, provided they align with the doctrine of the cross. Although such partnerships have not yet been realized, Hosiana plans to introduce this idea in the near future. Today, Hosiana is a multigenerational hub, bringing together grandparents and grandchildren who minister side by side, exemplifying unity across ages.
