Meme awaits Fifa ruling

MOHAMMED Tchite a.k.a Meme has claimed that it’s up to Fifa to decide which country he plays for. The Racing Santander striker has been a center of controversy with Rwanda, Burundi, DR.Congo and Belgium all fighting to land his services. However, during his recent visit to Rwanda, the 25-year-old, who featured for Mukura before making his professional debut for Belgian club Standard Liege in 2003 told the local media that it’s up to the world football governing body to decide which country he plays for. “Fifa have asked me to wait until they take a stand. I don’t know when that will be but I’m waiting,” the highly sought-after striker said. Meme started his footballing career with Prince Louis in Bujumbura before featuring for Mukura Victory Sports in 2002. He made his professional debut for Belgian club Standard Liege in 2003. He publicly made his intentions of playing for Belgium clear when he became a Belgian citizen back in July in 2007 but Fifa denied him the right play for them. The 25-year-old signed for Racing Santander from Belgian champions Anderlecht on a five-year deal before the close of the last season’s transfer window. Ends
