Rwanda Energy Group (REG) Volleyball Club men’s team showcased the unstoppable form on Saturday, November 16, at Gisagara Gymnasium with a convincing 3-0 victory over East African University Rwanda (EAUR). The one-sided affair was part of an action-packed day in the national volleyball league, featuring several thrilling encounters. REG Volleyball Club overwhelmed East African University Rwanda (EAUR) with a flawless straight-set victory, showcasing their superiority across all areas of play. The first set began with EAUR showing promise, as they kept pace in the opening exchanges. However, REG's sharp serves and effective blocking started to create a gap. EAUR struggled to respond to REG’s well-executed offensive plays, and eventually claimed the first set 25-20. While EAUR attempted to mount a comeback in the second set, REG maintained their composure and capitalized on EAUR’s unforced errors. Their precise attacks and impenetrable defense left EAUR trailing, and the set ended 25-20 in the electricians’ favour. The took control of the game over an EAUR side which looked fatigued, and took the third and match-winning set 25-15. Earlier in the day, Gisagara Volleyball Club (GVC) delivered an impressive performance, cruising past Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) with a dominant 3-0 victory (25-17, 25-11, 25-11) while Police Volleyball Club (PVC) beat Rwanda Polytechnic Ngoma (RPN) in three straight sets (25-17, 25-14, 25-22) In the women’s category, Police Volleyball Club (PVC) women maintained their fine form with a 3-0 win over Wisdom School (WSD) (25-17, 25-19, 25-17). The day also featured an outstanding performance by Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), who swept Rwanda Polytechnic Huye (RPH) in straight sets (25-09, 25-13, 25-16). RRA showcased their dominance with powerful attacks and strategic serves that left RPH unable to counter effectively. The match of the day in the women’s category was a thrilling five-set encounter between East African University Rwanda (EAUR) and Ruhango Volleyball Club (RVC). EAUR ultimately triumphed 3-2 (25-22, 25-27, 15-25, 25-19, 17-15) after an intense battle. Both teams displayed resilience and determination, but EAUR’s composure in the fifth set proved decisive, earning them a hard-fought victory.
