Thadée Twagirayezu has been elected as the new President of Rayon Sports for a four-year term, taking over the reigns from outgoing Fidèle Uwayezu. Twagirayezu won the vote of confidence from members of the club during the general assembly that took in Nzove on Saturday, November 16. He will head the club’s executive committee which also comprises Prosper Muhirwa and Roger Aimable Ngoga who were elected first and second vice-presidents respectively. Ngoga has been in office as interim president since Uwayezu who stepped down from the position in September citing health issues behind his resignation. Meanwhile Patrick Rukundo was elected as the treasurer while Chance Denys Gacinya, who former led the club between 2014 and 2017, joined was elected as the advisor to club’s executive committee. Paul Muvunyi was elected as the organ’s president unopposed. He returns to the club’s administration for the first time since 2019 when he left the club after two years in office as president. It was during his tenure that the club reached the quarterfinals of the CAF Confederation Cup, making it the only Rwandan club to achieve the milestone. He is joined in the club supreme organ’s administration by Dr Emile Rwagacondo who was elected as the vice president garnering 100% of the total votes and Abdallah Murenzi who will serve as the secretary general. Murenzi also led the club between 2012 and 2014. Meanwhile, Paul Ruhamyambuga, Charles Ngarambe, Theogene Ntampaka, Sadate Munyakazi, Jean Fidele Uwayezu, the club’s most recent president, and Valens Munyanagisha were elected as advisors of the Supreme Organ committee. The newly-elected committees take charge of Rayon Sports with a shared goal of bring the club to its glory days. The Blues, now coached by Robertinho, currently lead the table of Rwanda Premier League with 20 points, two clear of second-placed Gorilla FC. The club eyes its first title for the first time since 2019.
