SOUTHERN PROVINCE NYAMAGABE — Students of Kavumu College of Education (KCE) in Muhanga District have made a firm commitment to fight genocide ideology while promoting unity and reconciliation. The students made the remarks after paying tribute to genocide victims at Murambi Genocide Memorial site last week. The visit was aimed at getting first hand information on the Genocide in order to instil the Never Again notion among the student teachers, college officials said. “We have witnessed what happened during the Genocide, it is unimaginable. Our generation will not allow this to happen again. This is our stand and we shall work hard to rebuild this nation again,” James Andrew Iyamuremye, the students’ guild leader said. Camsir Rutayitera, the college vice principal, also stressed the need to fight genocide ideology, saying students should lead this campaign. He said: “There is no place for genocide ideology and if any of you (students) harbours it, this should be the time to reflect and change.” He castigated the masterminds of the genocide, for the wanton killings and destruction of the country. KCE team was also composed of staff from East African Community and International volunteers, who said the new generation should work hard towards unity, reconciliation and rebuilding the country.
