Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente on November, 13 received Zarau Kibwe, the new World Bank Group's Executive Director for Africa, for a discussion centered around strengthening the partnership between Rwanda and the bank in support of private sector growth. Kibwe appreciated his meeting with Ngirente, saying, “We had a very good discussion. We focused primarily on how the World Bank can support Rwanda in expanding its private sector, which includes implementing the Second National Strategy for Economic Transformation. We aim to foster private sector growth, create jobs, and boost domestic revenue mobilization. That's what we discussed,” he said. ALSO READ: Govt committed to vision 2050 despite challenges, says Prime Minister He also commended Rwanda’s track record in utilizing World Bank funding. “Rwanda is a standout country, not only in project implementation but also in achieving strong results. It’s a model for other countries in the region,” Kibwe added. Kibwe noted that several projects are in the pipeline, with a particular focus on agriculture. “One area we want to support more is agriculture, as it is the primary job creator in Rwanda, especially for young people,” he said.
