APR FC have named Brig Gen Deo Rusanganwa as club’s new chairman. Rusanganwa replaces Col (Rtd) Richard Karasira who was dropped from the position on Friday, November 8, after 17 months in office. Karasira’s exit from APR management is, according to sources, linked to the forfeiture, among other sanctions, recently awarded to the military club over exceeding foreign player limit during their goalless draw against Gorilla FC on Sunday, November 3. Rusanganwa met the players and coaching staff on Friday, November 8, right after the club’s 2-0 victory over Vision FC at Kigali Pele Stadium. The club has had an unimpressive form since returning to the league action after being eliminated from the CAF Champions League but Rusanganwa offered support to the players and coaches so they can regain the form and return to the title race. “Please correct all mistakes because you are good players who can change and improve your game. The top leaders are behind you and you need to show character and personality of winning” he told players. Rusangwana previously served as member of the Executive Committee of Marines FC. APR FC currently sit in 14th place in the league with seven points, 13 points behind Rayon Sports who have played four games more.
