Senegalese forward Fall Gnagne scored the lone goal in the 67th minute as Rayon Sports defeated Etincelles 1-0 at Kigali Pele Stadium on Saturday, November 9, to go top Rwanda Premier League table. The Blues, who have been impressive recently, have registered their sixth win a row and are the only team unbeaten so far this season. Rayon Sports started the game as the better side as they made inroads into the vital area of Etincelles. However, the visitors, led in attack by experienced striker Moro Sumaila and Robert Mukoghotya, looked threatening when they were attacking. His passes were exceptional as Charles Bbaale, Hadji Iraguha and Ngagne all had vital chances. Despite controlling the game, Rayon Sports laboured until the 67th minute when Gnagne broke the deadlock. The goal changed the phase of the game as Etincelles bumped forward pushing for an equalizer. Robertinho’s side were, however, tactical as they held their might and occasionally played on the counterattacks. Both team pushed more men forward later in the game but the defenders were very solid as they held on gallantly. Rayon won the game 1-0 and have now moved at the summit of the table standings with 20 points from the eight games. They have a rescheduled match with champions APR in a yet to be determined date.
