Rayon Sports head coach Roberto Oliveira Gonçalves de Carmo, also known as Robertinho, has heaped praise on his team for their recent performance in the 2024/25 Rwanda Premier League. The Blues started the season on the wrong foot, drawing 2-2 against 10-man Amagaju and 0-0 with lowly-ranked Marines FC in both matches held at Kigali Pele Stadium. They later found their rhythm, winning five consecutive games including Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Musanze FC at Ubworoherane Stadium courtesy of Charles Bbaale’s second half strike. Robertinho emphasized that his side is going to keep the momentum no matter which team they face. We are playing very well and, even if we are to face Real Madrid, we will do well, Robertinho told the press in a post-match interview. Rayon Sports are second on the league table with 17 points, one point behind Gorilla FC who jumped at the top after the Rwanda FA awarded them a 3-0 win over APR FC by forfeit after the latter was fielded seven foreign players on the pitch during the match as opposed to the current foreign players’ quota rule. Robertinho’s next test will be against Etincelles FC after the international break.
