THE Confederation of African Rugby (CAR)’s decision to delay the Kampala International Women 7s tournament could be a blessing in disguise for Rwanda’s Blackbacks. The two-day tournament initially scheduled for June 27-28 has now been pushed to September 26-27 although details for the delay have not been communicated. The Blackbacks, who have been training hard for the tournament now have two more months to fine tune themselves as team coach Paul Ogaa recently said. “This gives us more time to prepare the team,” he said before adding, “last time we worked so hard preparing the team for South Africa only to be disappointed when the tournament was cancelled. I hope we do not have the same happening this time.” Blackbacks are ranked amongst Africa’s top ten nations. Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Burundi are also expected to compete in the tournament. Ends
