The Stage Fashion Showcase dazzles audience with creativity

Fashion lovers gathered at the grand stage of Mundi Center to witness an unforgettable showcase of style, creativity, and local talent at the glamorous second edition of The Stage Fashion Showcase on November 1. This year’s event brought together regional designers, emerging young talent, renowned and rising models for an electrifying evening that celebrated both Rwandan and international fashion. I was nervous but the energy from the crowd was amazing. Being part of this event made me proud of our local fashion industry and excited for what’s next,” said Sharon Rwahama, one of the models who hit the runway at the fashion event. The event featured a unique mix of styles, with designers drawing inspiration from traditional African elements blended with modern, avant-garde fashion, to the raw materials. The crowd erupted with applause as models strutted down the runway in collections that ranged from elegant evening wear to bold street styles. Among the highlights of the evening were collections from local designers who have been making headlines in the fashion industry for a couple of years now. I love how the show emphasized sustainability and eco-friendly fabrics it is a reminder that fashion can be beautiful and responsible and investors still have a lot of work to do in the fashion industry, said Alliance Uwera who attended the event. In addition to the stunning attire, the Stage Fashion Showcase placed a spotlight on best dressing individuals where a public figure, Isimbi Model took the trophy. Rwanda’s Matteo was also recognized as the best designer. Many designers incorporated eco-friendly fabrics and production methods, emphasizing the industry's shift toward more sustainable practices. Some pieces were made from recycled materials, sending a strong message about fashion’s role in environmental conservation. The models themselves, some of whom were making their runway debut, brought energy and confidence to the stage. Their vibrant presence added to the evening’s atmosphere, with audience of all ages applauding the diversity and talent displayed on the runway. The Stage Fashion Showcase drew a large crowd, including celebrities, influencers, and fashion enthusiasts, all eager to celebrate the artistry and innovation of Rwanda's fashion industry. Among them were musician Bwiza and Davis D. the latter hit the red carpet stunningly clad in a dress designed by Mateo who, she said, has always given her a new sense of her fashion taste. “Mateo came up with the idea, and I could not say no since we often collaborate. My passion for fashion gave me the confidence to move forward, and growing up around friends who modeled really inspired me to give it a try, even though it was my first time,” said Bwiza. “The fashion industry in Rwanda needs more support and investors to help it expand. It is an industry that has allowed many people to grow and build a life for themselves and as we saw today, there is capacity in young talents here,” she added. The show concluded with a standing ovation, as the designers, models, and production team took to the stage for a final bow. The success of this year’s show has set a high bar for future events, with many already looking forward to next year’s fashion showcase, said Sandrine Mucyo, the brains behind the annual fashion event. “As Rwanda continues to foster a thriving fashion industry, events like the Stage Fashion Show will play a vital role in putting Rwandan talent on the map and encouraging the next generation of designers to dream big,” he said.
