East African Breweries under their Tusker brand have sunk $10,000 (about Frw 5.5 millions) into this year’s Rwanda Open Golf Tournament.The sponsorship package was officially delivered to Kigali Golf Club president Ezra Bunyenyezi on Wednesday by the company’s country manager David Kamanda.“We were approached by the club and we saw no reason why we couldn’t involve ourselves since we have sponsored similar golf tournaments in Kenya and Uganda,” Kamanda said.“Tusker will also give in an extra hand if required on top of the $10,000. This is just the beginning and we hope to extend our support to other competitions,” he added.KGC is delighted with the package and the club vice captain Marcel Byusa says that Tusker’s contribution will help cover more half of the tournament’s budget.“Their contribution is equivalent to half of the entire tournament’s budget which is very good for us (club),” Byusa delightedly said. Rwanda Open is the biggest event on the club’s calendar and will run from November 9-11. The three-day event is expected to attract foreign participants from neighbouring countries like Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi both amateur and professionals.
