Nyagatare district council investigates the firing of Rwensheke cell leaders over corruption allegations

EASTERN PROVINCE NYAGATARE—Following the group dismissal of Rwensheke cell executive secretary and cell coordinator over allegations of corruption charges, Nyagatare district council has intervened to verify whether their sacking was lawful. The Gatunda sector council approved the sacking of cell executive secretary Mr. Jean Bamporine and his coordinator Clotilide Mukamayanja on allegations of corruption and promoting divisions among the people they lead last week. But a group of district council members from the political desk in company has now interviewed all sacked officials in a bid to establish whether Gatunda sector council applied the legal process. “The information which will be obtained from the investigations will be given to the district council to verify whether the sector applied the law when approving the collective sacking” said John Mbonisaba, the vice president of the district council. During the investigations some of the district councillors said that the executive committee was ‘not guilty’ over the corruption allegations. Didace Dusebemungu, executive secretary of Gatunda sector told the commission during investigations that the council was in fact corrupt. Independent confirmations have not been made. Ends
