NWC elects new head

KIGALI - Dr Diane Gashumba was yesterday elected as the new president of the National Womens Council to replace Odda Gasinzigwa who was recently appointed to head the Gender Monitoring Team. Gashumba, who is the Director of Muhima Hospital, won the by-election that pitted her against Stephanie Nyiranzurukero with a landslide 80% of the 70 votes cast. She has been in charge of health in the Council. Another vacant post that was filled yesterday is that of Secretary of NWC which was taken by Flavia Sarafina.
