Poor communication could be disaster among families

How do we always reply or respond to our partners? Communication is one of the huge factors that do affect our families sometimes leading to divorce. Thirty six year old Joel Tumusime divorced his wife after they had lived together for three years. He said, ˝ I would rather live with an adulterous person whom we speak the same language than staying with someone who can not respect my opinions.˝ Communication in this sense ranges from family decision in day to day activities. Two heads are better than one. How sweet when a couple comes together on a round table to solve problems and plan for the future. Tumusime divorced his wife due to misunderstandings. He said that whenever he sought his wife’ advice, she could make matters worse. Bad communication acts as a ladder to other family issues. A partner goes without informing the other simply because somehow the mode of communication between the two had become a war zone. ˝It’s not that the message is not there, but the problem is the way how it is being sent and how it is going to be received,” says Joyce Mukantabana. Paying attention to a partner’s words as a way to hear truly what he or she is saying is a crucial factor, validating a partner’s feelings, and empathizing with a partner’s view of a situation. Therefore, it is important to observe good communication if couples want to have and maintain a good relationship. Marriage is long time contract; such minor issues should be solved swiftly and amicably. If you don’t master the effectiveness of how to communicate well with your partner, may put your relationship on the rocks. Some of the tips to be considered by couples to improve on their communication with their spouse range from; giving your spouse attention. Since he or she is the most important person to you anyway, give full attention and listen. Express that thought that your partner’s importance is never forgotten. Opening up to each other is the only way to keep a relationship strong. Don’t jump to conclusions or suspect intentions. No one likes that, it’s an unfair judgment, especially if you are completely wrong about the case. Listen attentively, and do not speak until you have heard the whole story. Being impatient and frustrated surely does not help things. Have frequent discussions on anything concerning your relationship. Whether it’s an event, an important person, a good idea, anything, as moments shared will help build the bond. Show respect for your spouse, it’s so important to always show respect to each other in our families. And with respect issues can be easily settled.
