NORTHERN PROVINCE GAKENKE — The Mayor of Gakenke District, Pierre Damien Hakizayezu, has blamed the recent murder incidences in the district on family conflicts. Police reports indicate that four people have been killed in the district within a spate of one week, two women and two girls. Condemning the grisly cases of murder, the Mayor advised residents to amicably sort out differences which arise within family settings during their weekly village meetings. Those murdered were identified as Jacqueline Ingabire and her two daughters who were killed by a step son over family possessions. Another unidentified woman was murdered in an incidence linked to gender based violence. “These incidences are a result of conflicts linked to differences at family levels. The basic motive identified by police has been wrangling over assets ,” Hakizayezu said. The mayor further revealed that for the case of the murder of Ingabire the accused Celestin Nshimiyimana, is also linked to the killing of a man identified only as Ibingira, a motorist in Kalangazi sector in 2007 who was also robbed of Rwf.1m. He added that the accused is part of a gang of criminals operating in the Eastern Province. Ends
