Rwanda has fallen 12 places on the latest Fifa rankings. Rwanda dropped from 84th in May to 96th in June and it is widely believed that last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat against Malawi played an integral part in the drop. The game was supposed to act as a warm up for Tucak Branko’s wasps ahead of Saturday’s crunch away 2010 World/ African Nations Cup qualifier against Zambia. Zambia on the other hand stayed put in 90th spot. Rwanda’s other Group C opponents Algeria moved up six places to 66th while African champions Egypt dropped three places to 40th. In the Cecafa region, Uganda maintained its grip at the summit for a third consecutive month despite moving one place down to 67th position. Sudan beat Rwanda to second position despite dropping three places to 88. Kenya and Tanzania lie in fourth and fifth positions respectively. The CAF rankings are topped by Cameroon, followed by Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Egypt. Burkina Faso (50th, up 7) and Gambia (65th, up 4) recorded their highest-ever position since the introduction of the Ranking in 1993. Over all, Spain has maintained her dominance at the top, but Netherlands leapfrogged Germany into second place. Italy has also moved up one place to fourth at the expense of Brazil, who are fifth. England has overtaken Argentina in sixth place. Croatia, Russia and France wrap up the top ten slots.Fifa Rankings: World1. Spain 2. Netherlands 3. Germany 4. Italy 5. Brazil Africa1.
