There is talk that slim-fit jean trousers with tapered ankle are the best. This type of jeans is commonly referred to as “bottle jeans”. They are very hot, and a flatter to the wearer. This is the ideal attire for women, especially the taller ones with smaller hips. Also often known as skinny jeans, slim-fit jeans may seem a new look to some Rwandans, but they have been around for sometime. However, what is evident is that, slim jeans can be compared to the leggings, which are still rocking. If you have been looking for something a little more different from ordinary jean trousers, why not try them out? Anita Kayitesi says skinny jeans are preferred by many girls because of their design which creates a flattery body structure to the wearer. It’s a revolution in the fashion industry, and its demand increases each day with millions of people flocking into markets in search of them. Who doesn’t wish to look gorgeous? It’s ok, you can still wear straight cuts, flare cut, boot cut, or even the bell bottom jeans, but you can swap to skinny jeans once in awhile. At only 14 years of age, Sandra Uwase, a senior two student at Lycee de Kigali is already obsessed with the trend. “I love skin-fit jeans than any other type of jeans. I have got them in different designs, and wear them on different occasions,” Uwase says. “However, my mum has always discouraged me from wearing slim jeans, claiming that they will spoil my legs, but I’m not ready to drop them.” In the world of skinny designer jeans, the focus is more on the art and details, which provides the wearer the true ability to emphasize more on their style. Whether it is the newest trend or the hottest in designer jeans, the trend is a flatter and makes the wearer feel greater and stylish. Jean wearers are opting for more styles and are wearing them loud and proud. Designer jeans are boasting colourful collections of crystals, coloured pewter, and bold embroidery in chic shapes. The more decorative the pockets the hotter they are. The same fad is noticed in denim jeans. The days of matching, invisible stitching are quickly fading away. Women’s jeans are sporting funky embroidered patterns on the pockets, across the legs, and even across the backside to emphasize the shape of the denim and heighten the slimming and lengthening effect of the pants. Skinny jeans create a body shape for the wearer, but maybe it’s sometimes better to make your own shape. It may be because of this that the trouser leg jean is more in fashion. In some way the trouser leg creates more shape. According to Hussein Ngarambe of Top Star Boutique, in Nyamirambo, skinny jean trousers are worn by many people because they create room at the hips and thighs, thus creating a perfect area from the thigh to the ankle. Fashions come and go, but skinny jeans are never out of style. This season, the overall look is dressy and elegant. On the other hand, it seems this trend is here to stay. “It’s such an interesting style. I just love seeing girls wearing them,” Jean Marie Habimana says. “People should style up and embrace the latest trends...you never know which will flatter your looks.” Look at the girls who wear them on the streets.
