Relationships: Marriage is give and take

“I wish we could divorce. I’m really tired of this marriage! My husband has the highest level of confusion, and is a total bore to my life. God why me?!” whines Deborah Mugisha. “But I have no choice but to carry on because it’s too late to divorce. I already have three children with him, and besides I have no genuine reason.” At a certain point in their lives some wish to quit their marriage. However, marriage is a give and take arrangement, and it can only succeed if both parties embrace it. Try to flash back and remember the day you made the big settlement before the authority: “I...Do!”, and received that “ring” on your figure. Was it love, or simply desire for material gain? Well, whichever way, this approved that you are now husband and wife. Many marriages have been known to end up in divorce, so it’s sensible to double-check that your very last pickup is the perfect woman or man for you. Probably before you made the brave decision to get married, your friends and family members had warned you to carry out thorough investigation on the family you are marrying in, to see what your future spouse will become. That was a classic warning sign! Granted the wedding was successfully over, and so was the honeymoon. Thanks to God over that! But only a few months later, you have already started whining that he/she was not actually your right shoe. Peter Mulisa canceled his wedding which was scheduled for Saturday May 6. He says his fiancé was having an affair with another man. This is terrible, and it’s not the first time we are hearing about such scandals. The term marriage changed meaning from love and cherish to a war zone. A friend of mine recently made me laugh. At the age of 28, he has promised himself never to marry, but to instead become a Priest or Catholic Brother if marriage is all about being dishonest to one another. “My God...what’s wrong with people of today? Being faithful is a crime to them,” yells Andrew Kalisa. You might have noticed that after the wedding, a lot of things have changed. The care you used to get during the courtship has reduced. No more going out on a daily basis. No more gifts or the constant phone calls. Buddy, don’t wonder, you are now experiencing someone’s true colours! We are not just talking marriage here, we mean dreams, and far dreams: which car she wants to drive, the house, the husband will build for her parents and lavish decorations for a house you don’t even own yet. These are warning signs that she could be playing a fool out of you. However, the very fact that you’re looking for a reason to divorce in the first place is worrying in itself and calls for careful thoughts before making the decision.
