Joshua Muhire’s journey in the Rwanda Open M25 came to an early end following Wednesday’s round of 32 loss to Peru’s Petr Iamachkine in two sets 2-6,1-6. In other notable matches, top seed Max Houkes of the Netherlands dominated India’s Yuvan Nandali in two sets 6-2, 6-3 victory to advance to round of 16 while Week 1 winner Corentin Denolly of France continued his unbeaten run in the M25 Kigali, defeating Swedish wildcard Rafael Ymer 6-3, 6-1. He will face India’s Kiruthik Kalyaan AS in the next round. India’s Bharath Nishok Kumar advanced to the round of 16 after beating Great Britain’s Mattias Southcombe 6-1, 6-3, while Paul Barbier Gazeu of France overcame India’s Rishi Reddy 6-3, 7-5. Germany’s Maik Steiner secured his place in the next round by beating Zimbabwe’s Courtney John Lock 6-2, 6-4, as Italy’s Manuel Plunger edged India’s Karan Singh 6-4, 7-6(1). Rwanda Open M25 attracts top international players in the men’s professional circuit. The 2024 edition began on September 23 and it will run until October 6. All matches take place at IPRC-Kigali Ecology Tennis Club.
