Editor, I am puzzled by what Ecobank is doing these days. When a person is given a cheque, the bank doesn’t give you money before phoning the owner of the account to confirm whether he actually signed the said cheque. This method is very time consuming both to the bank and its esteemed clients. Recently, a student in SFB came to cash a cheque in the Ecobank Remera branch and was supposed to withdraw the money and pay school fees. But because the bank would not get confirmation from the owner of the account because her phone was switched off; funny enough, the account belonged to the student’s mother. They refused to give him the money. Shame on you. Isn’t there a better way? Remera
